Johan Hansson Liljeberg, renowned as one of "the kings of Norway" during his tenure as the guitarist for the multi-award-winning rock band Honningbarna, showcases his exceptional songwriting talent in his own project, Smiling.
In this venture, Johan possesses a unique ability to immortalize seemingly ordinary moments, such as the stroll to your best friend's apartment or the reminiscence of an old car. His evocative writing skillfully demonstrates that these seemingly mundane details can, in fact, leave an indelible impact that resonates for a lifetime.
Teaming up with Arvid Ingvarsson (Mary Anne’s Polar Rig, New Banke), Julia Wiklund (New Banke), and August Glännestrand
(LAV SOL, Liv Andrea Hauge Trio), these songs come to life in an exhilarating rock n' roll spectacle, delivering the most gratifying live performance.
Since 2019, Smiling has unveiled a creative journey comprising two full-length albums and two EPs. The most recent release, "Rock” and “Not Rock", weaves influences from the likes of Venetian Snares and Elliott Smith. This musical amalgamation results in a celebratory ode to garage rock, elegantly interwoven with complex rhythms and captivating synth ballads.
