Robin Fassie-Kock Quintet

From Cape Town, South Africa to Norway the young emerging Trumpeter acculturates traditional African rhythms infused with jazz/soul/gospel/hip-hop and funk in his music interpreted by a Scandanavic band.

While in high school he had already garnered several accolades, part of them being a scholarship to study at the University of Cape Town. He's been selected out of many aspiring musicians to be part of both the Stabard Bank National School and Youth band. He ́s also performed at the biggest festivals in South Africa, Cape Town International Jazz Festival (where he recieved a Berklee Scholarship), Artscape Youth Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival and Joy of Jazz.

This year he was on tour in Mauritius and recorded with two leading pianists, Bokani Dyer and Nduduzo Makhathini. Since he arrived in Norway to complete his studies at the Grieg Academy in Bergen he has already performed at PechaKucha Bergen and Ståopjazz as well as with the sassy soulmistress Miss Tat, CFAU and the Riot Monkeys at Bergen International Music Festival, as well as with the leading jazz musiciansEivind Austad, Magne Thormodsæter and Thomas Dahl.
