ISFiT presents: Movie screening The Power of Resistance: Where the Olive Trees Weep (2024) // Storsalen

What does it mean to fight for dignity when the world looks away? How do you find hope in a land scarred by history and conflict?

Where the Olive Trees Weep (2024) is a deeply moving and urgent documentary that brings us to the heart of Palestine, where generations have lived under occupation, struggling for justice, identity, and survival. Through intimate testimonies and breathtaking visuals, the film captures the weight of loss and the unyielding spirit of those who refuse to be erased.
With every olive tree cut down, a story is severed. But still, the people remain—resisting, rebuilding, remembering. Their voices, often silenced, take centre stage here, telling a truth the world must not ignore.

The land remembers. Even when its people are displaced, even when its trees are torn from the earth, the land holds the echoes of those who have walked it, lived on it, and fought for it.

Where the Olive Trees Weep is not just a film—it is a reckoning. Through unflinching honesty, it lays bare the weight of occupation, the daily reality of loss, and the quiet strength of those who refuse to disappear. It does not ask for pity, nor does it offer easy answers. Instead, it demands that we see, that we listen, and that we acknowledge a truth too often ignored.

This is a story of resilience in the face of erasure, of dignity held against impossible odds. It will challenge you. It will stay with you. And it will remind you that to bear witness is not a passive act—it is a responsibility.
