Jeanne Dielman, 23, Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles was crowned the greatest film of all time in 2022 by the renowned film magazine Sight and Sound.
In the film, we meet the lonely widow Jeanne, who performs daily household chores and cares for her teenage son while struggling to make ends meet. Slowly, cracks begin to appear in her rituals, leading to a dramatic outcome in her otherwise monotonous life.
The film is an important feminist work that captures the essence of living a monotonous life as a housewife, a theme that remains relevant even 50 years later.
