Samfundsmøte: På leting etter sannheten
What is actually the difference between investigative journalists and other journalists?
This event will be held in Norwegian.
Investigative journalism is experiencing a revival in Norwegian media houses, with more resources being allocated to both large and small investigative projects than before. This type of journalism differs from news journalism in that the projects are more long-term and comprehensive, with the aim of uncovering crime, abuse of power, or other questionable practices.
During this Samfund meeting, we will discuss how investigative journalism is practiced in Norwegian media houses and the methods and tools used. How has investigative work changed with the help of new digital tools and large amounts of data that can be analyzed? How do media houses ensure that the criticism they present is accurate? Where is the line for publication when those involved deny the allegations? We will delve deeper into these topics at the Samfund meeting: In Search of the Truth.
Joining us are award-winning journalist and investigative head at Adressa, Lajla Ellingsen, advisor for the Norwegian Press Association and the Press Complaints Commission, Ingrid Nergården Jortveit, and editorial developer at E24, Hans Jørgen Ro.
Doors open at 17:45. Entrance through the main entrance. The event is free for members, and 50 NOK for non-members. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
The meeting will be streamed on Samfundet's YouTube channel. The full recording will also be uploaded to the YouTube channel afterward.
