NAEMA// KNAUS 23.59
NAEMA is a late night with high humidity.
The band takes inspiration from jazz, soul and pop to make a new expression that makes no compromise between the genres. Soft, but rough at the edges. Themes that reoccur are the restless thoughts that haunt you late at night, and the people and places that won’t leave your mind. The hardness to the double bass and the energy of the drums gives the melodies a certain backbone, and together with the soulfulness of the saxophone and the vocal conveys the hidden power that lies within hearts that are full of yearning. The music is inspired by bands such as Koma Saxo, Lianne La Havas and Lauryn Hill.
Miriam Namtero Kibakaya – vocal&effects
Simon Hagerup Holm – saxophone
Odin Fiskvik – guitar
Nicolas Leirtrø – double bass
Øyvind Leite – drums
August Glännestrand – drum pad
