ISFiT presents: Indigenous Peoples
In a world where unity is a dominating policy in most countries, what rights do the native populations who regard themselves as a unique community possess?
How do countries with indigenous people make sure that their native population are respected? In this session we will hear first hand experiences and eyewitnesses to the treatment and discrimination of indigenous people.
The speakers are as follows:
- - Yana Tannagasheva (RU), Shore People representative, activist and spokesperson
- - Wilton Littlechild (CA), Cree Lawyer Chief for the Truth and Reconciliation Committee
- - Eva Maria Fjellheim (NO), SAIH (Norwegian Students’ And Academics’ International Assistance Fund) representative
They will share their stories and reflect upon possible solutions with an expert panel. The audience will then ask questions and discuss issues regarding native presence in a multicultural world.
