ISFiT presents: 9 Grader Nord
Stop by Knaus on the 11th of February to experience a mix of multiple music genres such as bails, flamenco, carnation and jazz. 9 Grader Nord plays during ISFiT 2017.
9 degrees north of equator you find the city Jaffna, Sri Lanka, where half of the band members come from. With instruments such as bamboo flute and cajon, the audience is brought along on a musical journal closer to the instincts. They first appeared on stage during the spring of 2015, but wasn't a band before early 2016. They've played on multiple club stages in Bergen ever since, and have also reached out to a wider audience through concerts in Oslo, Stavanger and Göteborg.
The quartet plays what often is categorized as "world music", even though the music is a mix of multiple genres such as bails, flamenco, carnation and jazz. The band itself describes the music as energetic, mysterious and rhythmic, and classifies it as ethnic progressive. The vision is to challenge the musical diet of the audience by serving these exotic tones.
