Gunerius og Verdensveven

Danceable psychedelic world music!

Gunerius & Verdensveven is a trio led by multi-artist Thomas Gunerius Bergsten. For the past 20 years, he has zigzag between genres such as psych-rock, jazz, gospel, folk, hip hop, electronica and contemporary music under various artist names.

Gunerius & Verdensveven emerged with a bang in 2020 with the single "Blå disko a lá türk" which received good reviews from Norway to Japan and became a hit in the small microtonal music community on the world wide web.

Since 2021, the band has released an album a year and has built a reputation as a particularly good live experience that works just as well at a doom festival as under a bridge in central Oslo. In 2024, the band released two albums on Sellout! Music, Fantasmagorˈi, a collection of songs that will make your dance feet twitch while vibrating your brain, and ISOLASJON, a larger work about mental health that was both shown at the Høstutstillingen and released in both a DIY quadraphonic version and a completely regular stereo.

Live, Gunerius & Verdensveven is an experience that ranges from danceable grooves via free jazz with spoken word to sing-alongs. Together with drummer Alexander Lindbäck (Signe Marie Rustad, Grant-Lee Phillips, St. Thomas) and bassist Magnus Tveten (Local Store, Valleypolicella, the Harvey Steel show), a musical feast is delivered with microtonal guitars, bass, drums, electronics, rattling loops of homemade instruments such as juggler and cigar box harp. An engaging, eccentric show that could perhaps function as a short-lived Norwegian alternative to King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard or reminiscent of Pere Ubu on a jazz trip or Sun Ra Arkestra playing hip hop.
