The Sound of Nature: Music and the Climate Crisis
Can music show the way to more sustainable ways of living in harmony with nature?
This lecture will be in Norwegian.
People around the world use music to make sense of the landscapes they live in and to understand the ecological systems they are a part of. At the same time, music can be used as an environmental political statement and as a tool to handle and process difficult emotions related to climate change and the loss of biodiversity. On an overheated planet, music can be a cultural resource that connects us to a more ecological worldview.
Tore Størvold is an associate professor in musicology at NTNU. He holds a PhD from the University of Oslo and has spent the last few years researching the connections between music, nature, and landscape in a time characterized by ecological upheavals.
