ISFiT presents: Movie screening Fearing of Nature: Sister, What Grows Where Land is Sick? (2022) // Vuelie

Eira, living in her sister Vera’s shadow, discovers a dark secret when she reads Vera’s diary. Den siste våren, Franciska Eliassen’s striking debut, explores psychological struggles against the stunning backdrop of Lofoten.

Eira lives in a small village in northern Norway. She feels that she exists in the shadow of her
older and far more gregarious sister Vera, who has a larger circle of friends. But Eira notices
that something strange is happening to Vera. In an attempt to understand her older sister’s
behaviour, Eira starts reading Vera’s diary. It reveals a darkness that the younger sister is not
sure how to deal with.
Written, directed, edited and produced by Franciska Eliassen, Den siste våren had its world
premiere during the prestigious Locarno Film Festival. Eliassen proves to be a distinctive
and exciting voice in a new generation of Norwegian filmmakers.
Eliassen has made a delicate and highly personal film about psychological problems,
packaged in a colourful and original manner. The result is a fabulous feature film debut that
alternates between dream and reality with the captivating backdrop of Lofoten's majestic
landscape.
