In 2022 and 2023, she released three singles—“Burn Again,” “Hide Away,” and “No One Hurts Me Like I Hurt Myself”—to widespread acclaim from listeners worldwide. The songs gained both national and international attention, featuring on Spotify editorial playlists like New Music Friday Japan, receiving radio play on P3, and earning praise such as, “Are we talking about the year’s catchiest chorus, already in March?” (Best akkurat nå, NRK P3). As of now, the three singles have amassed over 2.3 million streams on Spotify alone.

Her fourth single, “Chaos,” was released on September 6, 2024. The song delves into the feeling of emptiness that, one day, suddenly erases everything that once was. It captures a sense of meaninglessness and confusion, where chaos takes over when all that was once familiar disappears. The track received significant attention both domestically and internationally, appearing on Spotify editorial playlists such as New Music Friday Norway and Denmark, Hits Don’t Lie, Smil., Ny Pop, Fresh Finds Nordics, and ung, dum & lovende. It also garnered radio play on P3, a 5-star review in Dagsavisen, and glowing reviews in Norwegian and international newspapers and blogs.

A week after the release of “Chaos,” Markella performed at a packed BLÅ during by:Larm in Oslo. The magazine Puls described her live show as “cool, goosebumps-inducing, and incredibly fun.”
