Folk Music Evening
Are you ready for a night full of raw energy? Come to the Folk Music Evening at Vuelie!
Folk Music Evening with a Modern Twist.
"Rigla" and "Don't Feed the Sun" take you on a musical adventure.
Rigla
With roots in jazz and traditional folk music, the band RIGLA composes their own songs with a raw and improvised expression. The band's name comes from the dialect word "Riglafengje," which in the Sunnmøre region simply means unsteady.
With an unpolished sound that combines folk music, improvised lines, and ballad-inspired lyrics, no one really knows where the music will take them. After countless sleepless nights, deep thoughts, and hard work, the band has even managed to write a song in major. Get ready to join RIGLA for their very first concert, featuring the world premiere of their own original songs!
The band consists of:
Ingrid Narum – saxophone and cello
Lars Viljo Fauske – fiddle
Lova Siverts – vocals
Lea Hareide Jønnum – vocals
Selma Edwards Granly – double bass
Linus Hanem Solvang – drums (and accordion if you're lucky)
Don’t Feed the Sun
Don’t Feed the Sun is a trio from the jazz scene in Trondheim. The trio consists of Anna Ueland on synth, vocals, and fiddle, Hermann Hestbek on tuba, OP-1, and electronics, and Selma Edwards Granly on cello, electronics, bass drum, and vocals. The trio debuted with the EP "Farvel, sol" (Farewell, Sun), which was the result of taking producer Elling Svee to a cabin in Fosen, where they recorded original and improvised music inspired by the surrounding nature. With references to folk music, Nordic jazz, electronica, and ballad music, the trio aims to depict "nature and music in perfect harmony." Their whimsical lyrics explore themes of closeness, disappointment, optimism, love, and self-awareness.
The band consists of:
Anna Ueland: Korg Poly-800, OP-1, mellotron, fele, vocal
Selma Sophie Tudor Edwards Granly: cello, guitar, vocal
Hermann Arntzen Hestbek: tuba, basstrompet, elektronic, OP-1
Doors: 21:30
Entrance: Edgar
