Margrete // 23.59

Through her brutally vulnerable lyrics and unconventional song themes such as the menstrual cycle and the ethics of true crime, alt-pop artist and producer Margrete finds something humorous in even the darkest themes, and writes songs you sometimes wish you didn’t relate to.

Having grown up as an artistic soul in the sports-oriented suburbs of Oslo, she uses her experience as the odd one out to make her music a voice for the outsider and a home for the misfit. With a captivating stage presence, strong vocals, and a great band, Margrete drags you into an eclectic musical universe containing everything from dreamy post-punk and electropop to melancholic trip-hop and jazz.

Margrete's latest musical offering, "FLAWS vol. 2," is an exploration of vulnerability. It's a journey that delves into her insecurities and flaws as she transitions from the tumultuous early twenties to the unpredictable mid-twenties. The record, like its predecessor "FLAWS vol. 1," invites listeners to navigate the complex terrain of human emotions and experiences. The EP represents her most honest work to date, a collection of songs she's immensely proud of and considers her best yet.

  • The Line of Best Fit

"Margrete is the only (possibly teenage) Norwegian electronic-jazz producer you need in your life"

  • Clash Magazine

«‘Pandora’ is an alt-pop steamroller, combining gossamer melodies with alt aspects in the production. Completely addictive, it finds Margrete standing on her own, refusing to follow others.»
