Charlie Skien + Support: Utsikten

Charlie Skien (Verdensrommet, Softcore untd) comes to skala!

Musician, vocalist, lyricist, songwriter and producer. You've probably heard the characteristic one
the voice of Andreas Høvset before, whether it has set songs by Verdensrommet, EMIR, Softcore
Und. Anna of The North, Sushi X Kobe, Angelo Reira, Hester V75 or Charlie Skien. His first
release (together with the group Verdensrommet) came already in 2012, and since then has
Andreas - originally from Skien, now living in Bergen - contributed to over 20 releases such as
band member, solo artist or guest artist. With almost 15 years of experience on the Norwegian music scene, he has developed a distinctive style that has received awards and ovations from the press, the industry and the public.

In 2018, Andreas launched his own solo project - Charlie Skien - which has so far released seven singles and an EP. His preliminary releases under the Skien name have garnered rave reviews, and with 'Det Gjør
Ikke Vondt', he is finally on the field with his long-awaited debut album.

From before, Charlie Skien has been described as 'A laid back indie trapper with catchy choruses, rough
productions and a characteristically sexy bubbly voice' (Gaffa), 'Full of scruffy, dirty synths, guitars
and saxophones' (VG) and 'A voice that walks the bass a long time [...] all-absorbing and atmospheric'
(Bergens Tidende). He has also received much praise and attention for his deeply personal lyrics.
Andreas does not hide the fact that he has recently been through a challenging period in his life, with
addiction and associated negativity as one of the main ingredients. This theme has a lot to do with it
of the text material on both 'Det Gjør Ikke Vondt' and earlier releases, but by virtue of Andreas now
have come out sober on the other side, you can also find traces of hope and optimism on
the plate.

The soundscape on 'Det Gjør Ikke Vondt' takes a somewhat rockier direction than what one might associate with it Andreas' expressions from the previous musical constellations he has contributed to. It is dirty and
brutal, catchy and painful, often in one and the same song, but the compositions still have a common touch
the indie pop that the Charlie Skien project is known for in the first place.

The bottom has both been reached and overcome, and now Andreas aka Charlie Skien is ready to tackle the next one chapter in his multifaceted career.
