ISFiT: Why Storytelling Matters
What does a Norwegian blogger from Molde and an Iranian cartoonist have in common? We have invited Linnéa Myhre, Adel Khan Farooq, Ali Dorani and Hoda Katebi to a conversation about why storytelling matters.
Linnéa Myhre is a well-known Norwegian author, blogger and vlogger. In her stories she deals with topics concerning mental health and her own experiences with depression and an eating disorder.
Adel Khan Farooq is a Norwegian journalist, author, and documentarian. One of his works is the critically acclaimed documentary “The Norwegian Islamist”, which highlights the challenges connected to terrorism, radicalization, and the challenges of being muslim in Norway.
Ali Dorani, better known under the pseudonym of Eaten Fish, is a cartoonist and a political refugee from Iran. He uses his experiences from his four year detention in Manus Island, one of Australia’s offshore immigration detention centres on Papua New Guinea, as inspiration for his cartoons.
Hoda Katebi is a muslim-Iranian fashion creator, activist, and author. She runs the unapologetic political fashion platform “JooJoo Azad” and has published the first-ever photography book on the celebration of illegal fashion in Iran, Tehran Streetstyle.
Events at the Student Society can be adapted for visitors with movement and hearing impairment. See here for more information.
