ISFiT presents: Maria Mena in the Nidaros Cathedral

We were first introduced to Maria Mena at the age of 16 with her breakthrough single “My Lullaby”. It didn’t take long before she became one of the most successful artist in the nordic region with songs such as “You are the Only One”, “Just Hold Me”, “All This Time” and “Fuck You”. Her christmas song “Home For Christmas” has established itself as a modern classic in Norway.

2016 was an important year for Maria mena; it marks the 15 year anniversary for her record deal. A lot has occurred during those 15 years, and her worldwide audience have been a part of the journey. She’s been featured high on the hit lists in Europe, South-America, and Asia, while she’s toured in most parts of the world.

Mena has been open to media about her mental health, especially that related to anxiety and eating disorders. By showing us that our idols can go through hard times as well, she’s helped with breaking down some of the prejudices surrounding mental health.

Openness is an important part of the work to reduce discrimination, and ISFiT is proud to be able to present Maria Mena as part of the thematic program, says ISFiT’s Head of Concert, Bendik Sem Kvernevik
