Studentmediene (SM)
Do you want to develop innovative media solutions?
As an IT developer at Studentmediene you will have the opportunity to work with a group of developers who like to program and make cool stuff together. We develop websites, systems and tools for both our volunteers in Studentmediene and students in both Trondheim and the rest of Norway. All our services are operated by a separate department in-house, so the position also gives you an opportunity to learn about IT operations in a mid-size company, if you’re interested.
The time used in this position is divided into relevant training, development and meetings, all of which are valuable experience you can put on your CV. We have a lot of social happenings, both with Studentmediene and Samfundet in general. The working hours are flexible; we all work together one day a week, Monday evening. There we all sit together working, including a meeting. The rest of the time is organized in smaller focused groups working on the same project. No past experience is necessary, but it might be an advantage.
Some of our projects:
Momus is a content management system for our journalists and editors, where they organize their articles for each production cycle.
iBok is a marketplace for selling and buying used books which is commonly used by students all over Norway. The website has over three million page-views and generates around 500 000 kr in income per year. The iBok system are also due for an upgrade, so there is a lot to do and more to learn. Languages and frameworks include Kotlin, Spring Boot, PHP and React. If this sounds interesting, then you can checkout iBok's own position, named: iBok prosjektet - IT-utvikler.
Radiorevolt.no is the webpage and mobile applications used by our radio, where you can listen live or at past broadcasts and read news articles. the project includes two native apps for Android and iOS, modern web frameworks like React and GraphQL and a backend written in Python.
We also have some smaller projects, and are constantly looking for new ones.
